A Day in our {Jumper-less} Homeschool Life…

Lesson Plan!!!{via}

I know.  You thought all Homeschoolers rolled out of bed mid-morning and just did a subject or two when they felt like it all the while lounging in their jammers or maybe their jumpers.  Right? Or at least something like that?  :)

Not quite.

With three kiddos roaming the plains, no two days are EVER the same, but I am a planner… a schedule-lover… so we at least AIM to follow a similar pattern of events most days.  :)

I just do better with structure… with a list… a strategy for HOW on earth I’m going to survive some days when it seems it’s Mommy vs. the Wild Three.  :)

menu-001

6:30 to 7:00… Davis Man awakens & the Father of the Year gives him his bottle.

7:00ish… The two older chilluns awaken. Haylee fixes their cereal, and they eat at the table.  Sometimes, Davis joins them in high chair for some dry cereal.

7:00 to 7:30… Mommy crawls outta bed for the day and holds her breath for her morning weigh-in ritual.  At a plateau that I can’t seem to jump off of!

7:30ish… Daddy says his goodbyes, and it’s off to work he goes!!  {His schedule is about to change… everything about 30 minutes earlier… so all this will be changing soon!}

After Daddy leaves, Haylee starts her chores.  She does so much to help me around the house, and while it’s not always perfect or as good as I would have done it, she is easing my load while simultaneously learning TONS about taking care of a house!   As Wade gets older, he’ll be taking on some chores too.  Right now, his consist of ‘put away this pile of toys right here,’ or ‘put these cars back in their box,’ etc.  :)

Some of her chores are…

  • Picking up and putting away whatever doesn’t belong
  • Loading/unloading dishwasher
  • Making beds
  • Wiping down bathroom with wet wipe

8:30… This is our goal for starting school.  Doesn’t always happen, but I like for it to be as close to this as possible since this year, video school is taking us longer to finish than doing it ourselves did last year.  If she starts by 8:30, she can usually be done with all but History and Reading by lunch.

I pull all her needed papers and write out assignment sheets for the week ahead of time and separate everything out by folders… one for each day.  She just has to grab the folder for that day, and she is ready to go!

9:00ish… Davis Man’s nap… Wade starts school {maybe}… and Mommy takes a shower.

10:30ish… SNACK TIME!!  Haylee brings me any work to be checked throughout the day.  I check it and give it back to her to make any corrections.  I virtually ALWAYS make her correct her mistakes on her written work.  Learning from mistakes by correcting them is something actually possible with Homeschooling that is really hard to accomplish in a traditional classroom of 20 students.

10:30 to 11:00ish… Davis Man awakens for Bottle #2 and more playtime!

12:00ish… LUNCHTIME!!  Lately, I’ve been prepping our lunches for the week ahead of time, so I just have to fix something for Davis and get the rest of ours out of the fridge!!  Whoohoo!

IMG_3009 2

Because I’m just highly stressable, lunchtime tends to make me crazy, but one coping mechanism I’ve found is just turning on some music to lighten Momma’s mood.  :)

1:00… Finish up school for Haylee… Nap/Quiet Time for Davis Man & Wade.

{Angels singingBlessed QuietnessAh!!}

3:00ish… Davis awakens for Bottle #3 and yet more playtime.

4:00ish… SNACKTIME!

5:00ish… Depending on when Davis woke up from nap #2, he may or may not go down for a sometimes short but needed third nap.

6:00ish… Daddy’s Home {more angels singing} & DINNERTIME!

7:45ish… Get ready for bed…

8:00… BEDTIME for all THREE!  Wade goes down in our bedroom, since he is currently  unable to control his constant urges to BOTHER his little brother Davis. After he falls asleep, Chris carries him to his own bed in the kids’ room.

Haylee listens to music on her bed with her headphones and/or reads a book by the light of their closet before she konks out for the night too.  :)

And that’s our day!!

    Definitely a schedule lover! :) I would have run away by now w/o it.

    We strive to start school at 8 AM. Since my 8th grader has so much more work than the others, I have him do regular school class times: 8:00-8:50 is Bible, 9:00-9:50 is English, 10:00-10:50 is History, etc. When the disc part of the lesson is over, he has until ??:50 to complete as much of the assignment for that class as he can. If he doesn't finish the assignment, it becomes homework to be finished after school.

    The 3 younger ones function pretty much like Haylee.
