The Ladies of the WILDS…

We had a good time at our Ladies Retreat last weekend. We had some good times together. Learned some good lessons. Ate some good food. Had some good thrills, and didn’t get any sleep! There were about 10 of us in the room, and a few of the more talkative ladies were up well into the morning! Then some were up before 7 am talking yet some more!

Heather and I braved the GIANT SWING while a few others watched and laughed. I have ridden this a million times, but it’s been a few years. The fear had returned, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to try it again. Heather’s hubby, Sam informed her she better not come home if she DIDN’T ride the swing, so she was determined to convince me to ride with her. We had about a 30 minute wait, which was plenty of time for us to begin to freak ourselves out.
I so wish this event was recorded on video for the ages to see and remember the terror experienced. Heather began spassing on the way up to the drop with a death grip on my arm. Everyone else was dying of laughter as she was screaming and crying that she didn’t want to do this.
The way the swing works is they harness you and send you up to the top. Once you hit the metal thingee at the top, you freefall. Everything happens behind you though, so you can’t see when you’re going to fall. Because of that, Heather had spent her time waiting in line to count the time elasped between the send off and the fall. She had it down between 25 and 29 seconds. So all we had to do was count, and WE would not be taken by surprise. WE would know when we were going to fall.
So on the way up, amid the screaming and crying, and the death grip on my arm, I asked Heather if she had remembered to count. Her panicked answer was, “NO!”
All that counting in line and she freaked when she was supposed to put it to use. :)
We were so proud of ourselves for making it through. Now we have bragging rights.
Here’s some more pics of the grand adventure….

That looks like so much fun! You’re really brave to do that. I’d be scared out of my pants! Looks like fun, though!
