The Hunt is Over

So our church hunt has reached its end… Last Sunday morning we took the plunge and joined at Northside. We were hoping to slip in quietly without having to make the journey to the front of the church and face the sea of faces sizing us up! (just kidding) We filled out this little card thing that had as a choice “We would like to join the church” crossing our fingers that they would just contact us and say, “Welcome to the church!” Well, that didn’t happen. The Executive Pastor actually called and suggested that we come down to the front to join last Sunday since it was Homecoming Sunday and four other families were planning to join then too.

So then we were stuck sojourning to the front… I don’t think Chris really minded, but I certainly didn’t relish the experience.
Of course, we ended up being the first he introduced, and then we didn’t know whether to stay up there standing or sit down. So we opted for sitting down even though the guest music leader was motioning us to stay up. :)

Then after he introduced the second person, he instructed her to stay at the front. Then we got more motioning to go back up! So back up we went… Wonderful to feel stupid in front of 1,000 plus people or so. :)

It really wasn’t that bad, but so not my thing. I had told/threatened Haylee that when the Pastor looked at her or said her name that she better smile. But, when the moment of truth arrived, she just stared ahead at the massive crowd with not a shadow of a smile. :) I can’t help but agree with her that they were a bit intimidating.

So… the church hunt is over and the wondrous joining process as well… Whew!
