The Big Pink Crown

I am sad to report still no success on the church hunt. Sunday, we finally visited Calvary Church, but we really don’t think it is the place for us.

The building itself is a sight to see. The outside of the building is pink and designed to look like a crown! The lobby of the church has escalators running up and down to take you to the various levels.

There is also an impressive pipe organ that is just monstrous. Here’s some official stats… “The Calvary Grand Organ, built by M.P. Moller and dedicated in 1990, is history’s fourth largest pipe organ built at one time. It now ranks as the 14th largest pipe organ in the world, with 11, 499 pipes.”

We made sure to sit in the balcony in order to utilize the escalators, and during the service, Haylee whispered something like, “It’s neat that we get to go to a big church that has ‘alligators’!” She loves those “alligators,” and will even get on and off by herself.

On the way out, she managed to step on a dead bird on the sidewalk. I was trying to guide her away from the poor thing, but couldn’t quite manage. As Chris and I were talking about it, she asked me if it was already dead before she stepped on it. :) Nothing like traumatizing your four year old.

We’re not sure where the Lord may be leading us on the church front…so, we’ll just keep on looking.

I think that was the largest church I have ever been to, but I’m not sure because my family used to belong to First Baptist in Hammond, IN.

That church is kind of scary looking! Are you sure it isn’t really the “Crystal Cathedral”? Sorry still no luck on the church front though!

I had to laugh…. Matt and I visited there once just so we could see the inside…. we always drove by it, and curiosity got the better of us. Def. not a church we’d EVER be happy in! But the experience was quite humorous for us… and even a little odd. Just too funny.

Seriously, I hope you find a church home that you are happy with soon.
