Queasy Country

These days I’m living in a world of nausea and queasiness weirdly coupled with gnawing hunger! I just can’t seem to fill this belly. I am constantly hungry it seems. No matter the amount of food repetitively placed in my mouth, it doesn’t seem to phase the need for more food.

Do not misunderstand, I am NOT complaining. I have never been so thankful for an icky tummy. Each uncomfortable twinge gives my worrisome mind a small measure of peace that perhaps everything is okay with this pregnancy.

Yesterday brought a trip to Walmart to fill up on some fruits and vegetables among other things. I think I was actually craving fresh fruit and veggies! What could be better, right? I know that I am much better off craving that than pickles and ice cream. Of course, there is no guarantee that this coincidentally good craving will last. One can only hope, however. :)

I am headed to my regular OB, the most wondrous and fantabulous Dr. Peach on Friday. I am hopeful that I will be able to have an ultrasound without any complications to further ease my worries. I just have to say how much I do love my Doctor. As his name implies, he is really is quite the “Peach.” Going through the infertility process as well as dealing with our miscarriage was somehow a bit easier with such a superb doc. He is the most popular doctor there and I’ve even heard that at one point he was voted the best doctor by the Gaston County Hospital Nurses. This means that he can sometimes be hard to get an appointment with, and sometimes your wait may be long, but it is definitely worth the wait.

He does have this thing about hugging, which people can find odd. It does give him a human side, though. It makes you think that you are NOT simply another name on a chart to him. He really does care about you and your situation, whatever it may be.

Is it weird that I’m raving on and on about my doctor?? Oh well, I’m not done yet! Two of the things that he has done that have really set him apart from just the average doctor have really impressed and surprised me. When I was going through the miscarriage, he gave me his cell phone number to call him whenever I had a problem or question. What doctor does that? And then later in his office, he chided me, telling me to use that number because he wouldn’t have given it to me if he didn’t want me to use it.

Just recently, Chris’s cuz, Amy, shared our good news with him at her check up. She said he was so excited and started getting his laptop out to get my phone number. Right then and there, with Amy in his office, he called me up to congratulate me. He also strictly instructed me to make sure I got an appointment with him even if I had to be pushy with the receptionist!

When I hung up the phone, I think I was just in shock that my doctor had called me just for the simple reason of congratulating me. Again… what doctor does that?

I’m thankful for my Peach of a doc! I can’t wait to have my first real prenatal appointment to give me some peace of mind…

Gotta love the pregnancy cravings! :p

Our pediatrician is just such a Dr. – absolutely wonderful. And yes, they are a dying breed… I wish that more doctors were like them. -How incredible would that be?!?!?!?

    Praying for you and baby!

Oh, cravings…my favorite part of pregnancy. It was great when I had to send Dan out because I just had to have something.

Your doctor sounds great. Our pediatrician is the same way. It took us a while to find him, but we won’t use anyone else.

I hope all goes well with the visit. We are praying for you to have a great and safe pregnancy. Who knows maybe you will have twins?!

Salads was one of my few cravings. :) I really just craved food in general, nothing too crazy though! But that feeling of just ALWAYS being hungry is NO FUN! That and gaining like 70 lbs! Will be praying everything goes well with Dr. Peach! :)

Cravings… ugh… with Sammi it was (get this) 7-11 Hot Dogs!!!! You know, the ones that spin around on the rollers all day & you have no way of knowing how long they’ve been there?!?!?! I still can’t believe I ate those things… ick. But like you said, there wasn’t anything I could do about it… I just HAD to have ’em. So glad everything’s going well!!!!

Wow, he really is a nice doc! What a funny name, too! Really lucky in his line of work. My Opa had surgery once with a doctor named “Payne” (just say it out loud in your head, reading it took me a bit to grasp at first, but perhaps you’re faster than I!)

Hope pregnancy goes well for you, and no pickles!

Yeah I am so happy for you guys!!! . I remember there for awhile I wanted potato soup, chicken salad sandwhich and those great rolls from O’Charleys. Albert hates O’Charleys now! I love Dr. Peach. He makes you feel so special!
We will be praying for you!

    Hi Renee,
We are so happy for you and praying for you. It was good to see you, Chris, and Haylee at Family Camp. We miss y’all at church.
Dr. Peach is a great doctor. He is mine and my mother’s doctor also. At first it was weird that he hugged, but I warned my mom so she would know. He listens to me and I appreciate that.
    Hang in there.
