Last Day of School

Tuesday was our last day of school. Not a bad school year actually, working only August to February! I think I could get used to that. :)
We had a good day, and even had a few farewell moments at the end of the day with both fifth grade classes. My room mom (who has been wonderful, btw) organized the celebration and had my birthday present from the class and even had a few gifts for the baby too from the class and the other fifth grade teacher too.
It was definitely a crazy day with wrapping up all the things that I wanted to get in order for the sub. I think we stayed after school until about 5:30 or so, but I was relieved to be able to get the things finished!

(Almost 38 weeks!)

Haylee was excited because I let her pick out her own clothes for her last day.
As much as she LOVES school, I am worried that she will be bored with just mommy and Wade before long. For now, though, she seems to be okay with the idea of staying home with mommy.
She was intent on getting to be the “fish feeder” since “she never got to be the fish feeder and this was her last day.” Her job, however, was the line leader, and prestigious as that is… she still wanted to be able to be the fish feeder. Well, by a stroke of good luck, the fish feeder was out Tuesday and her teacher allowed her the special role! So she was quite the happy camper to be sure. Mrs. Dehart has done a fabulous job as Haylee’s teacher this year. She even had a special gift just for her filled with things to occupy her at home… coloring book, bubbles, pencil, puzzle, jump rope, and watercolors. It was so thoughtful of her to make Haylee’s last day something special, and I got a glimpse of her perspective of things lately when she looked up at her teacher and asked if the gift was for Baby Wade or for her! Needless to say, she was excited at the prospect of a gift all her own.

So we’ve had several days at home since Tuesday and it’s a good thing too since I came home Tuesday and started feeling sick. The sickness is still clinging on to me and today’s symptoms are a horrid stuffy, sneezing, running nose that kind of makes your head feel 3x’s its size. I’m hoping it won’t last much longer… :)

It sounds like you really finished out your time at the school nicely. Glad things went so smoothly.

That is sooo sweet that her Teacher made it special for her and she got to be the fish feeder! ;) It’s funny how little things really do make a big difference to her! Hope you enjoy your time off for a few days before Wade gets here!

I’m glad your last day went so well, and I hope you’re feeling back to normal soon! (Or, as normal as one can feel while pregnant, lol!)

Oh that’s so sweet. I know it has been a bit strange to drive to work in the morning and see your car in your driveway! Can’t wait to see baby Wade! Feel better. =)
