In case somebody HASN’T heard of Pinterest…

duh pinning{via}

Pinterest is a new internet sensation that has everybody jumping with glee.

I’m serious.  People are actually jumping with Glee.  :)

Pinterest{via}

Basically it’s a plethora of virtual corkboards where you can Pin the awesome stuff you run across on the web that you wanna remember or share.

pinterest profile

Pinterest makes everything So Very EasyMy mom could do this.  {Really, mom, you could.  As long as I could somehow convince you to just TRY it already!}

You actually just CLICK the Pin it button here and DRAG it up to the toolbar of your browser and wala!

Congratulations! You are now ready to face the internet and pin like mad.

Pin it 2

As you are browsing the web and you see something pin-worthy, just click that Pin it button.

{And, by the way… Really!!!  How awesome are these FABRIC COVERED roller shades???  I sooo wanna do this!!}

pin it button

Pinterest will open a window showing your choice of pictures to pin from THAT page.

pinterest step 2

Once you’ve picked what picture to pin, you have the option to add your own thoughts on the pin that will be shown under it AND pick a board to pin it to.

pinterest description

It really is just a glorified bookmarking site similar to delicious which has been around forever.  BUT… I think one BIG thing that makes Pinterest so marvelous {and BETTER than previous bookmarking sites} is that it’s so visual… since you are pinning a PICTURE linked to a website.That’s how you get DRAGGED in SO easily! The beautiful pictures are SIMPLY mesmerizing, putting you into a glorious pinterest trance.  :)

It is literally mind-boggling the amount of inspiration just on the home page alone.  It is VERY easy to get sucked into scrolling down, down, DOWN!    The other BIG and totally rad feature of pinterest… When you see a pin you like, just click “Repin” to share on one of YOUR boards.

But, wait, there’s more!  {Har Har!}

Another fantabulous bonus of Pinterest is that you can even FOLLOW people’s pins and boards to see what they are currently being inspired by via the world wide web.  :)  That means you can see what all your friends or blog peeps are pinning and share in their inspiration!

My typical  “Pinning” goes like this…

  • I read all my blogs in Google Reader.  {If you’re a blog reader, then you’ve GOTTA use Google Reader.  It’s da bomb.}
  • If I see a post I wanna pin, I first have to go to the actual blog post page.  A SUPER fast way to do this in Reader is to just hit “V” on your keyboard.  This will let you “view” the post.  {This is also helpful when I want to go to the actual blog to comment on a post.}
  • Once I’m on the blog itself, I click the Pin it button and let the magic happen!  :)

I love to do this with new recipes I wanna try.  I pin them to my Rad Recipes board.  Then later, when I’m planning my menu for the week, I can just pull up that board for inspiration.  Each picture links to the actual website with the full recipe!

I am fairly new in the Pinterest world, but it is very addicting, fun, and USEFUL! You can click the red “P” over there —–> to follow my pins or click the button below!

    THANK YOU for explaining it!!! SO many folks are on it, and I fiddled around with it a bit on the iPod but for some reason I can't get it to work on my desktop???

    Maybe I need one of those invites???

    Anyway, it seems like an AWESOME concept. I love the way it will KEEP what you share. So often I'll share something I've found on FB and then I go back to look for it & can't ever find it again! LOL
