Gruesome Grilling

Friday evening was a big night. It was supposed to be, that is.
We had big plans to grill out and watch Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest. Sam thinks it’s a crime that Chris and I hadn’t watched any of the Pirates series, so we set out to educate ourselves and catch up with the rest of the world. I thought the first one was pretty good, though I’m not a fan of scary, and those pirate skeletors were a bit creepy-ville.

I had the chicken marinated and the pasta salad chilling. Chris just had to perform the honors as grill master. :)

When he opened the grill he was shocked to see this inside….

I have no idea what animal did this or how the silly thing got all that inside the grill with the lid CLOSED!

This is the posed de-nesting shot…

While our bellies growled, Sam performed the de-nesting of the grill, but with all the dirt that made its way down to the depths of our already decrepit grill, we had to move the party inside and fire up the stove.

This is the de-nesting reality…

Heather was already not feeling well and eventually made her way back home to rest. So the movie was postponed to hopefully tonight.

I do hope I’m not in for more skeletors.

Chris has worked (I think…am I right, hon?) 65 hours this week. He had to work today too, which is always a bummer, but since Daddy was gone we decided to head to mom’s for a lazy day swimming with Uncle Mack and Jared.

We went for a quick dip before lunch while it was not so scorching hot, but that the made the water a bit chilly. After lunch and a movie (Shrek 2), we headed back out for another swim. This time, the weather was sublime. The water was just cold enough and the weather was just hot enough.

Mmmmm…. a nice relaxing summertime day…. don’t ya just love those?

Sounds like a lot of fun, and, as usual, the women end up doing all the work!

It sounds like your day was as interesting as ours. We took a Mom planned trip. I will have to post about it later.

That was some interesting stuff in your grill. Good thing he opened the lid before lighting the grill up.
