Good News on the Home Front…

Haylee slept fine through the night and had no fever when she woke up this morning. Yippee! I am cautiously optimistic that this rules out strep since the fever went away. I am so glad she is feeling better. Life is always crazy with a sick little one.

I read this morning in Psalms. I’m actually doing the read through the Bible in a year thing, and I guess I’m getting close to halfway through. I don’t think I’ve ever actually read through the whole Bible consecutively. I am happy that I have kept with it these past 6 months. It gets a bit bog-some (is that a word?) through some of the OT books with all the genealogies and detailed descriptions of the temple and laws and such.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it before, but I am noticing over and over in what I’ve read so far of the OT, the recurring statement of God’s steadfast love. Even in the Psalms it has been mentioned more than once. What a reminder to me that no matter what I may be feeling or experiencing, the love of the Father is steadfast. When I feel that others are failing me, my God still loves me.

Ps. 26:2,3
Prove me, O LORD, and try me;
test my heart and my mind.[a]
For your steadfast love is before my eyes,
and I walk in your faithfulness.

I wait until next week to take a pregnancy test. Waiting, waiting, waiting. It’s the name of the fertility game. I also read this verse this morning…

Ps 27:14
Wait on the LORD;
Be of good courage,
And He shall strengthen your heart;
Wait, I say, on the LORD!

You can try out the read through the Bible deal too. Follow the link on my sidebar… “Read Through the Bible.”
I actually do my devotional reading on the computer on BibleGateway.com. Back to the Bible links you up with them. It feels a bit 21st Century to read online as opposed to a paper and ink Bible. :) Our kids may be reading on their ipods one day. :)

Speaking of ipods, I am now an ipod owner. Can you believe it??? Our very generous friends (do you wanna be anonymous?) gave Chris and I a “nano” and a “shuffle.” These will really come in handy at the gym. I think it will not only make me look young and hip, but it may make my workout a fraction easier with some good tunes. :)

    Oh what fun! I was just asking Andy the other evening if there was some sort of cheap way I could listen to music while I’m biking. Haven’t come up with any cheap options, yet, as my tape player melted and I don’t have a portable CD player. (Don’t ask about the tape player . . .)

    I like reading through the Bible, too. A long time ago my mom gave me this book of “read through the Bible in a year”, and every day there are selections from the OT, Psalms, Proverbs, and NT. I really like doing this, as it helps when certain parts get into the “begats” or whatever!

    Glad the Lord encouraged your heart today! Keeping you in my prayers!

    Thanks for sharing. Glad to hear you’re still plugging away with the one year reading schedule. Congrats on the IPOD. Two years ago for Christmas Matt gave me a nice MP3 player – I just download my songs from my own CDs and use it. It’s all I need… I really enjoy it. Hope Haylee continues to improve.

    Glad to hear Haylee is well. I never picked you to be a paranoid parent. The ipod sounds cool. As they drop in price for the smaller GB ones, I have been quite tempted to pick one up for me. Let me know how you like it.

    Welcome to the wonderful world of Ipod ownership! :) You’ve only just begun!

    As to the reading the Bible through deal, I admire you as I always seemed to get bogged down when I attempted it myself. Maybe this will encourage me to try it again. Especially with the realization that there is a little eternal soul I am responsible for now. :) Is it as crazy for you as it is for me that I am growing up?

    love ya!

    I will be praying for you Renee; isn’t it neat how the Lord does speak so specifically through His Word to us?

    I actually read through the entire Bible last year for the first time in my life, and I can say it was only by God’s grace b/c there were some days it was hard to “keep on track”! It was neat not only to see all the themes and lessons that are interwoven throughout the Scripture, but also how the Holy Spirit speaks to you for what you are going through that day! Keep going and I know you’ll be so encouraged! =)

    Sorry for rambling…

    Thanks again for sharing and once again I enjoy reading your blog!=)
    (I’ve really got to start one myself soon…!)

    Wow, I have got to find out about the melted tape player. Did someone get hungry and thought it might taste good or did the sun do it. I can think of a hundred possibilities. I don’t think I have ever heard of that. I have never tried to read through the Bible, but now that I will have some time I should try it.

    Hey renee! iPods are fun and motivating. I definitely last longer at the gym with an iPod or talking to you!

    I think I have read through the first five books of the Bible like six times in an attempt to read through the whole Bible. Now, I like to study a book that I can relate to at this time in my life. Right now, I’m reading Isaiah. It’s good b/c it talks about peace in the Lord and that is what I need right now…

    It’s really encouraging to see you have faith in the Lord through it all. Somehow good comes out of the crazy stuff in life…
