Fashion Friday

fashion friday button2

Are you ready for a ton of weird, self mirror shots????

I hope so, cuz it’s time for another installment of FASHION FRIDAY!!  If you haven’t noticed, I’m on a once a month routine for this fashion Friday fun.  :)

I even made a button people.  :)

 DSC_0002 (3) 2  DSC_0003 (3) 2

I don’t know why I have to put my hand on my hip in all these pictures.  Maybe because as retarded as it looks, it looks better than one hand weirdly hanging at my side?????

Deep, deep fashion questions.

I love this little thin short-sleeve sweater I found at Goodwill recently.  So much so, I chose it to wear for our family pictures.

I am very lucky to have my sister as a photographer…  The pics she got that day do NOT just happen at regular portrait places especially with the impossible to photograph Wadester.

Since we were going to be there and ready, I decided to get her to try to take some decent headshots {cringe} of me for the blog.

It was hard to really know how to stand or what to do, but I know it would have been 10x as awkward with a photographer I didn’t know!  :)

collagepics

Have I mentioned that she is a photoshop wizard?  She has a “make your skin glow” action that doesn’t hurt my pushing middle-age-ness.  :)

These give you a sneak peak of our AMAZING shoot location too… It was PERFECT!!  So many things I just LOVED about it.  One of which being that fabulous red barn style door above with the diagonal slats.  LOVED IT!

What’s crazy too is that we just decided to meet up randomly at a place where we thought there would be parking downtown in my parents’ small town.  Right behind where we parked in a pretty much deserted area was an abandoned warehouse that was SCREAMING to be our backdrop!

Yes, folks, we have come a LONG way from those Olan Mills roll out woodsy backgrounds.  :)

At one point, Wade decided to photo-bomb me {above}…. I didn’t mind at all!!  I love his expression so much!  :)  As wild as he is, he does have sweet affectionate moments that melt a momma’s heart.  :)

Caddy corner to the warehouse was another abandoned brick building with a chipped turquoise door!!

shootcollage

Isn’t it perfectly marvelous???

And yes, that is a handmade felt flower pin… crafted by yours truly!  My first felt flower creation!

This black and white shot below is the one I picked to use…  What do you think?  Isn’t she a miracle worker?  Just looking at the pics ON HER CAMERA, I was amazed at how different she can make you look.  And that was BEFORE the magic skin glowing tricks.  :)

Thanks, B, for making me look much better than I do, ha ha!

Okay back to fashion

Top: Decree, Pants: Gap, Shoes: Maripe via Goodwill

This top has a really fun flouncy collar, though it’s one of those tops that is tricky to wear since it’s pretty thick and warm material but with short sleeves, and its empire waist is one of those that looks totally rad on the hanger, but can make you flash back to maternity wear in a second and become severely unflattering! :)

Um, hello. Nobody wants people to be second guessing their preggo situation.  :)

Top: Questions by Say What, Pants: Limited, Shoes: Maripe via Goodwill

Here’s another fun collar and fun bright color too. :)  These gray dress pants are so comfy too!  I need to remember to look for some more pants from Limited!

Hmmm, who is this gal in pink you ask??  Believe it or not, but that is my straight hair look that I sport every now and then.  :)  I think this was my first time wearing it straight while rocking the bangs.

And finally, my new fashion risk… skinny jeans tucked into boots!

skinnyjeans 2

What do you think?

Skinny Jeans were not something I really thought were for me… I mean I don’t exactly have SKINNY hips, ya know? But I had been wanting some new casual FLAT boots and I wanted to try the trendy look of boots out, pants in.  I mean, I think you can still call it trendy.  Not sure though since most of the world has been doing it for a while.  :)

I am not usually on the edge of fashion.  Hard to do when you do your shopping at Goodwill and Ross.  :)

I found these pants at TJ-MAX for super cheap and they are SO comfortable.  Like oh my goodness, ‘am I really wearing jeans comfortable’.  I seriously scrutinized them in the dressing room mirror for any signs that I was buying denim colored leggings, but it has all the appearance of real jeans but the ultra comfort of cotton comfy pants.

DSC_0032 2

I looked what felt like EVERYWHERE for the perfect boots, and FINALLY found some at Shoe Dept.  Just in case you are in the market for boots, trust me… Shoe Dept is the place to look.  They had a TON of options… the most anywhere especially of the FLAT boot variety.

I ended up with these Sketchers that were on sale for only $25 I think, plus a different black pair too. :)

What about you?

Have you jumped on the skinny jeans tucked into boots trend?  I did wear them with flats a few times too, though I was very, very nervous doing so.  I ONLY did it because it was SO warm and boots were just out of the question for my survival.

Hubby approved the flats look, though I did get fashion frowns from my sister.  :)

Do you have flat boots that you love?  Did you have as hard of a time finding them as me??

I think you look cute with the skinny jeans in boots! I started doing it last year when I was pregnant and couldn't handle heels anymore.

Have to say how much I love all your bargains at thrift stores and how you reference them as "Brand via thrift store." I'm addicted to thrifting too so most of my cute clothes come from there and people NEVER know. : )

Coming over from Serenity Now! Darling outfits! Love your style! I haven't gotten a pair of skinny jeans yet, but I've been eyeing them. I just bought a pair of knee high leather boots and I really need some skinnies to go with them. Yours look super cute!

Very cute, and I like the headshots. I have big hips so I can only wear skinny jeans with knee-high boots. Otherwise I look like an inflatable pear :)

Loving those head shots! You look so pretty! Just wondering…were you in Lattimore? I want to know where that turquoise door is! =) I love your flat boots, so cute. I really need to find some. I love my ones with heels, but definitely need a more practical pair. Never have worn skinny jeans, but I did buy some leggings ($5 @ Wally world) to wear with my shorter jean skirt and flats. SO comfy I tell you! And hubby thought it was cute, so that was a plus! =)

Hi Renee, thank you for stopping by my blog, you are so sweet!!! Love the pictures, wish I had a photographer in the family, but unfortunately, I'm the photographer (self proclaimed, by the way). All the pictures look lovely! I too have just started wearing skinny jeans, because I also wanted to tucked in the boot look, and yes, all my boots are flat, I go for comfort! I have tried them with flats too, and I have to say, I think I'm liking the look.
