Cherish the Memories? :)

Today is that day dreaded by husbands everywhere and sweated out by all moms

It’s Family Portrait Day.

Did you just groan?  If it weren’t for the precious, irreplaceable moments captured occasionally by these dreaded days, they would NEVER, EVER be attempted.

The day’s Dread and corresponding amount of Prep grow tremendously with EACH additional child present.

As much as I think Portrait Innovations and places like that offer an almost unbeatable price and product, oh my word, the years off my life that have been taken… usually in the waiting area.  AGGGHH!

Granted, I am so fortunate to have an amazing Photographer in my FAMILY so the whole shoot becomes exponentially easier with ability to choose, day, location, time… minus the TEN other stressed families in line behind you.  :)

Part of the stressing prep is the outfits.

Oh the outfits.

Trying to find something PHOTO WORTHY in and of itself while matching or coordinating with the rest of the family WITHOUT just going out and spending a fortune on new clothes for everyone is NO EASY FEAT

I’ve seen lots of pins floating around about how to pick coordinating outfits and then my sis sent me this article too..

Apparently, matchy matchy is OUT and things like accent colors and statement pieces are IN.  I really like the idea of just coordinating colors.  I like how it looks in the photo better, and I like that it makes shopping our closets much easier!  While I didn’t go as far as finding a statement piece, I did try the whole accent color thing.

Apparently the matchy-ness is inordinate within me since all the boys ended up in navy and the girls are in red.  Pretty sure that’s a no no when you’re trying to NOT match and all.

But at this point, I’m thrilled that I came up with this much.  :)

I even pulled out the glue gun and got crafty with FELT, people.  All in the name of a breathtaking family photo

It will take a MIRACLE for both my boys to look at the camera and not pick their nose be adorable at the simultaneous moment the picture is taken.

Good thing my sis had MAD photoshop skills.

It’s my only prayer at this point.  :)

At the very least if our Priceless Photo Attempt is an utter fail,  we have a Date tonight to recuperate afterwards!!

What about you?  Any secret family portrait weapons I can break out?  I’ll definitely need the BIG GUNS!!

Awwww! Hope it went well… The outfits are ADORABLE!

And I don't care what's "in" or "out," some degree of coordination of outfits is just down right pleasing to the eye! ;-)

love your outfit choices! can't wait to see the picture. :)

and I just told David this week that we are going to get our pictures professionally done – he was beyond NOT thrilled! :) We haven't had them professionally done in years (except at the beach last summer). I usually just do my own shot (propping my camera up on stacks of boxes and books, setting the auto-timer, and running to get in place :)

Your outfits look great! Yeah, I pretty much dread family picture time. Most of the time we are having to take them ourselves so we are setting the timer and running, lol. And I think it might just take a miracle to get everyone looking AND smiling at the same time. Maybe I need to break out some candy next time!! =P
