Believe it or not, Baby!

Had to share these crazy baby stories…
Having a baby “traditionally” is pretty amazing in and of itself, but sometimes things that aren’t so traditional can turn into something utterly unbelievable.  Stories like these leave me hoping for the most traditional and uneventful birth as possible.

This Minnesota woman (Midwestern women just seem tougher than the rest of us, don’t you think??) went into labor at work, so she drove home to get her husband and book it to the hospital.  Because of a seizure disorder, he couldn’t drive, so that left the task up to her. I still can’t get over this story.  She supposedly heard the baby cry, then the husband took the wheel so she could catch her little one as it slid out! What in the world?!!

I read on another site, that she thought she could make it to the hospital faster on her own than stopping to wait for an ambulance.  I also read that when they pulled up to the ER the nurses and such ran to the car but were puzzled that no one was even in the passenger seat.  The husband supposedly was yelling, “No, the driver’s side!”

In another weird twist, General Motors somehow felt honored that they were driving a Chevrolet and decided to give them some cool free stuff… a year’s supply of diapers, two car seats, a stroller, and other baby stuff.  I guess poor GM figured they could use any opportunity for some positive advertising.

Okay story #2!  This actually just happened last week… In India apparently it’s the thing to do at a certain fertility clinic to try to knock yourself up when you’re WELL past the normal age of having babies.  We’re talking WAY PAST! At the age of 66, this Indian woman delivered TRIPLETS!!!!!!!!!!!!!  This after 44 years of being barren.

Her husband (age 64) is quoted as saying, “Bhateri has fulfilled my dream of having a child and gave my family an heir. She was my first wife and after she failed to conceive a child, I married twice but again I did not have any child from my other wives also.”

COME AGAIN??? Your wife didn’t give you an heir so you married 2 other women in order to get one??  And WHY do you wait 44 years before considering fertility treatments? (The triplets were conceived on the third IVF treatment.)

Less than 2 years ago, a 70 year old woman delivered a baby at this same clinic after a “54 year baby hiatus.”  Now… 18 months later, the 72 year old mom’s health is failing and she is unable to even lift her baby. She had complications during the birth and says she was never able to recover from it.  Hmmm… kinda proof that you were TOO OLD in the first place!!!!

Wowsers and Yikes and Holy Canoli! Can you even imagine one of the elderly women in your life popping out a baby or three?? It’s hard for me at the ripe old age of 32 to deal with the woes of pregnancy and the coming lack of sleep due to a newborn.  Can’t imagine doing it in my 60’s or 70’s!

    WOW!

First couple totally deserved a new car because can you IMAGINE the mess in their old one?!?

I can hear the used car salesman now… "oh – just ignore that blood stain on the carpet…nothing violent happened…that's actually placenta!"
