A New Era

A new era is beginning in our Family. We are about to be the parents of a school aged child. Haylee turns FIVE tomorrow and is set to start Kindergarten in the Fall. She is incredibly excited to be going to kindergarten and actually went yesterday for some testing. She was a bit worried going in, but afterwards was chill as could be and told us that it was “easy.”

Mommy hasn’t exactly been great about doing her 4K school papers with her since we’ve been home, so I am hoping that she’s not drastically behind where she should be. There is the summer ahead of us to finish them up, but we’ll see how that goes. :)

Her birthday party is tomorrow, and crazy or not, we’ve planned the big event at Chuck E. Cheese! It was a choice based on trying for a “low maintenance” party this year, as well as somewhere big enough to host the crowd as we had it at our house last year and everyone was a bit crammed in. :) But convenience comes at a price as we all know, so this isn’t exactly the most frugal party. It is nice though, that it’s the day before the party, and I’m not wildly stressing… trying to make the cake, clean the house like mad, or get decorations planned and in place. Also, another big benefit to CEC is that there is a designated hostess to run the show, and NO CLEAN UP! Whoohoo! :)

Haylee and I worked on making the goody bags yesterday and finished them up today. Now, I just need to wrap her presents and pick up the cake tomorrow. Sounds easy enough to me, and way more manageable than hosting it at our house with our Wadester around.

One big thing we do have planned for tomorrow is taking Haylee to get her ears pierced. We had promised her a few months ago, that she could get them pierced when she turned five, and it is now upon us. I thought it would be nice to have them done for the party so she can feel glamorous and show them off too…

She is definitely excited about her big day and is already milking it for all it’s worth. This morning she said in a dramatic albeit mournful tone, “Today is my last day to be four, so I really want to wear my heart shirt.”
She’s learning her female wiles early, but I guess she has a good teacher.

Starting school in the fall! Yikes… I’d be a mess I think. LOL. -But that’s me! LOL. Yeah for a low-stress party. Sounds like a really fun time. I hope things go well. Getting ears pierced is a big deal — can’t wait to see the pics. I had to laugh at her comment she made re: her shirt, etc. She sounds a lot like Claire — a real flair for the dramatic! LOL. Hope things go smoothly. Enjoy the party and have FUN! :) Happy Birthday, Haylee!!

HA! Love it! You have a crazy, awesome kid, you know??!! I love that getting her ears pierced will be the highlight of the year.

Hayley seems so funny! I hope her party is a huge success, and I completely understand the need for simplicity over frugality. Sometimes we moms just have to throw our hands up in the air and declare, “We CAN’T do it it all!”.

Well, I suppose YOU can, but I certainly can’t, lol!
