A New Day, A New Year

We had fun New Year’s Eve hanging with the Cauthen Fam… There was lots and lots to munch on the whole evening long, mmmm, mmmm!  It was one of those times when there is just too many fantabulous looking things to choose from!

Chris had to work during the day for stinky Vanguard who NEVER has holidays!  Boo.  While he was at work, and Wade was fast asleep, Haylee and I worked on a few treats to bring to the shin-dig.

I wanted to try another recipe from Thrifty Decor Chick’s Christmas Party Treats Post, and this time it was Cheese Biscuits! Red Lobster Style. (I had already made the pinwheels for our Sunday School Christmas party.)

I promise that TDC did not tell a lie.  These are SOOOO easy and SOOOOOOOOO incredibly, and extremely addictably SCRUMPTIOUS!  Because you bake them in mini muffin pans, they end up being tiny bites that are just. so. easy. to. just. keep. eating!

Here’s the Recipe:

CHEESE BISCUITS

One 8 oz. package cream cheese (softened)

1/2 cup butter (softened)

1 cup self-rising flour

Mix all ingredients with a mixer, (it will be very thick). Then spoon the dough directly into greased mini muffin pan. Bake for 15-17 minutes at 400 degrees.

Haylee I had fun making them and they were SO EASY!  They mixed up easy.  They went into the pan easy.  They came out of the pan so easy-peasy!  I promise they were delish!

This recipe made 24 mini biscuits, so my only recommendation might be to double it if you’re going to a party or cooking for a large group!

We also decided to whip up a Chocolate Chip Cookie Bar, which we were able to dip into Nana’s fondu chocolate! Yum-o!

Kelly and Billy decided the game of the night was going to be Monopoly.  Yikes.  Do not get me wrong, I love me some games with the family or games with friends.  Much, much fun to be had with games.  BUT… Monopoly is not on my short list of games!  :) I guess it’s just such an eternally long game that doesn’t require any loud yelling or party type activity.

Robin was on my side… We played willingly but were definitely not the gung ho, we’re going to own you type players. :)  At one point, Robin offered Kelly something just to stop pressuring her to make a deal with her!

While we played, the kiddos holed up in the Media Room, watched TV, played, and overall acted crazy.

Despite playing the “short” version, the game went on and on and on.  PAST midnight and the ball dropping, though we did stop long enough to see the momentous occasion and do the customary smoochy smoochy “Happy New Year” ritual.  :)

We played until Billy went bankrupt, counted all our money and assets and Chris was the winner!

Not too long after, we loaded up the kiddos and headed home to begin our journey into a new year!

What will the year hold for our family?!

Happy 2010 to you and yours!
