A Holiday Table with BLING!!

DSC_0009 2

In my life as a mom of three in our Cozy little house, I do NOT usually make it a habit of decking out our table with placemats and napkins and centerpieces galore.

As a general rule, when you’re dealing with a smaller space, LESS is MORE, right?

But… I’ve been inspired by Christina’s beautiful tables and by the Christmas Table Party going on next week at Lettered Cottage and decided to give it a try!   :)

Holiday_Home_Button_2011_Layla

I actually had a lot of fun decorating this brand new, fresh spot for the Season of Cheer!  I love how it all came together, AND it didn’t break the bank either.  {As if!}

DSC_0002 2

I am happy to say that the only thing purchased just for this table were the placemats and napkins!!  And they were from the Mighty Dollar!!  Just as a public service announcement, if you like the Dollar Tree, but have never been to a Mighty Dollar, stop what you’re doing right now, and google it to see if there are any in your area!!  You won’t be sorry!!  :)  Okay, end message.

I so LOVE walking in the kitchen and seeing all this pretty Christmasy loveliness!!!

DSC_0021 2

In all honesty, I must admit… my glorious display had sadly not been arranged for long, when the Davis Man grabbed a leetle corner of the placemat, and it all came crashing down.  And when I say crashing, I mean crashing.

DSC_0081 2

The beautiful red charger split in two and was sadly no more.  :(

Now I know I gotta keep those corners up out of the wee little wrecking ball’s reach!!

Sometimes I wanna get mopey because he is into EVERYTHING and keeps me from being able to really decorate like I would like to!!  But I know that this crazy time won’t last forever and it won’t be long and I’ll be looking back wondering where those wild ‘bare house’ years went.  :)

DSC_0001 3

So for now, I’ll keep my decorating madness up on all the HIGH, flat surfaces I can manage to find and be happy.  :)

Here’s the deets on my Blinged out Table

DSC_0026 2

  • Placemats & Napkins… $4 for all at Mighty Dollar
  • Chargers… 98¢ at Walmart {previous purchase}
  • Wooden Tray… free from my Dad via a yard sale find this summer {I had hoped to have it spray painted white by now!!}
  • Cloche… $3.99 from Goodwill {previous purchase… this is NOT what it looked like… more on the redo coming soon…}
  • Ornaments… taken from my stash
  • Lantern… new with tags from Goodwill {previous purchase}

A BEAUTIFULLY blinged out Holiday Table for only $4!!

The placemats aren’t specifically Christmas so I can even use those throughout the year if I don’t lose my mind keeping up with my table décor for this MONTH.  :)

I love decorating with ornaments here and there.  It’s so easy and you get such an awesome effect.  Throw a few in a bowl and wala!! They add bling and sparkle that is just so festive, though they were a bit aggravating for me when it came to staying put!!!!

A little trick that helped me was using some clear packaging tape to sit them on.  It did NOT hold the glittery ones AT ALL though. Might as well not have been tape for all it “stuck,” but it did work great for the others.  It kept me from going loony thinking I could try to keep a ball from MOVING on a flat surface!!

What about you?  Do you deck out your table with some Holiday Bling?

DSC_0043 2

If not, maybe you should give it a try this year.  You might be pleasantly surprised like me!

    Oh it looks so lovely and festive, a shame that a charger got broken.

    I got rid of our dining table for that same reason, the boys just insisted on climbing on top of it and making sure nothing else stayed on it!
    Hopefully your table wont be so enticing to your little one.

    Hi, I'm new to your blog, found you thru CG, your table looks lovely. I perfectly understand about little hands getting into trouble, been there, done that ;). I also
    set out my table for all the link parties out there, but I never do other than that, too much trouble.

    LOVE it!! Look at you – placemats, chargers, napkins, a cloche redo – wow!! ;) so glad I am helping to inspire you.

    So impressed ;)

    My table is gradually getting set but I am wrestling with the red and green clashing with my cutesy curtains in my dining room. :) So trying to bring in more neutrals without buying anything. :)

    Love those placemats too – and you are right you can use them all throughout the year.

    and the lantern from Goodwill – love too! I am missing my thrift store trips – running in 2-3 and having to get a baby out for each one – yeah, has definitely cut down on my thrifting trips. I usually just drive right past and don't go in :( But I might brave it today. :)

    And another tip on the ornament ball is to add a bowl to your stacked place setting. Then the ornament doesn't roll around and it gives you another layer (that is if you have bowls that go with those plates, etc.)

    Don't think we

    Your table is so pretty! You are a better woman than I….I've just given up! I have a little wrecking ball too – a girl version, and so we are doing a tabletop tree. Pathetic, I know, but with a "real" tree I just have visions of emergency room visits in my head instead of sugar plum fairies, I suppose! :)
