18 months old baby!

DSC_0009 3

As it usually does, time has flown by, and our itty bitty baby is now a full steam ahead wild 18 month old.

He’s been walking since he was 10 months old, so he is practically running these days and definitely keeps me going with his ‘antics.’

He absolutely loves the fun of scavenging in the kitchen cabinets and brings us all his great treasures of cooking oil, daddy’s coffee, and more.

He recently had quite the eventful week with pouring out cheerios in the hallway one day, and dumping out rice in the kitchen on another day.   I heard the swish, swish, swish of him playing in his indoor sand box and thought, “Hmmmmm, what is that?”

As I was sweeping up the rice, Davis stood there watching me while calmly and desperately trying to empty the contents of a {thankfully} closed box of cake mix.

He keeps us all giggling with his facial expressions and new words he is learning.  I think he may be getting his social cues from his daddy, since he is known to greet a stranger with a leery crinkled up face, as if to say, back off, sir and ma’am.  I ain’t leaving my mama.

The other Sunday he ran up to Chris and our music pastor, leaned in and loudly said what sounded like, “Wasssup?!”

He can say almost everyone’s name in the family… or at least will give it a try.  I love this stage where we can command him to try to say words for our amusement.  :)

He also entertains us by performing “his version” of counting to three, which is really just syllabic soundings that just have the inflection of the dramatic counting to three he often hears Wade say before attempting to jump off some piece of furniture.

Speaking of the adored big brother, named ‘Wa-ay,’ one of his favorite pastimes is watching that mischievous banshee Wade and promptly setting out to repeat it himself.  Whether it be throwing himself on the floor or into a wall, or hollering wildly at the top of his lungs. If Wade does it, then Davis is mesmerized and must do it as well.

This makes for very interesting and LOUD van rides.

Thankfully, all his wild antics leave him truly tired out and ready to crash at bedtime.

Because the grownups around here surely do need that rest.

In just 6-ish months he has grown up so much…

I couldn’t do the rocking chair shot this time, since the good old chair bit the dust.  It was taken to the road and is no more.  It was a cheap Walmart glider that served us well for Wade and Davis… as well as our friend’s little one too. :)  It lasted longer than any furniture from Walmart should, so it can rest happy in that knowledge.

Can’t believe we are pushing the big TWO years old!! It was just yesterday we brought that teeny little surprise bundle home with us.

Thankful for all three of my crazies that hopefully are keeping me young…
