Spreading a lil’ Christmas Cheer…

It’s that time of year again.  That time when, oh my, the Christmas CRAFTS take over!  It is craziness what amazing Christmas Crafty awesomeness is out there being created.

And with the popularity of Pinterest, now we are SEEING all that mind boggling amount of simply marvelous Christmas craftiness.

How do these people do it??

Believe it or not, but I am not really very crafty naturally.

I just bought my first hot glue gun last Christmas I think.

I took a class in college called Teaching Arts and Crafts.  The big culminating project was making this 90’s style basket made of raffia ribbon.

I couldn’t find a picture of anything close to it, but the bow on it looked something like this…

 {via}

I’m pretty sure my teacher ended up finishing mine for me because I couldn’t get it, and it looked retarded.

Any of my college peeps  remember what I’m talking about???  You ALL rocked the raffia basket MUCH better than me.  Somebody be amazing and dig up an actual photo of that thing!

I REALLY love the concept of making crafts myself, but nine times out of ten I do not follow through. I like the fun of doing it, but it does not just come naturally for me.  I have to work for it, baby! Which is probably why I love Pinterest so much.  :)

Pinterest makes me FEEEEEEL crafty even when I’m just LOOKING at other people’s craftiness. :)

This Christmas project probably doesn’t technically qualify as a craft, per se, but I’m going with it since there were scissors, ribbon, and twine involved.

Twine = crafty, just in case you were wondering.  :)

I’ve always thought it would be supremely awesome to pull a June Cleaver and bake up some yummy treats to give to the neighbors.  It’s one of those things that just doesn’t ever seem to happen though.  Too much to do in too little time.

Well, this year SOMEHOW I managed to do it!  I also thought it would be fun to use this opportunity to include an invite to our church’s Christmas concert coming up this Sunday. Three-fifths of the family is even participating in it {if you’re in the Charlotte area, you should come check it out!}  :)

Click on the slide!

I whipped up a Christmas Card in Word to include with the Concert invite too… and signed it ‘from your neighbors at #210!’

Here’s the template for you too… I found it on Microsoft online and just changed the text and added our family pic.  {That’s a sneak peek at our fab family photos too!!}

I just hole punched the corners and secured them together with some twine.

Then it was a matter of filling the goody bags with the yummy treats and tying with some pretty ribbon.

After the bow was on the bag, I tied the twine around that and wala!  We’re done!

The bags came in a pack of 15 for less than $2 at Walmart, and my ribbon was some after Christmas goodness from last year!

Then one of my favorite elves delivered them to our neighbors inviting them to the concert and wishing them a Merry Christmas!!

Wouldn’t that be a fun, Christmas-Cheery sight to see at YOUR front door??

What about you? Are you Miss Christmas Crafty??

Does my project even qualify as a “craft’”?  Puh-leas say yes!??

    I love it! I never had to take Teaching Arts and Crafts..PHEW! We did Thanksgiving treats for our neighbors. We have mostly elderly around us, and they loved it! One was so touched. She said the she remembered when people did such genuine things all the time! Yay for starting your own neighborhood tradition.

    That's really great! I like to try to do that for all my music students, as many of them don't attend church very regularly. I was thinking of lazin' out this year, but you've inspired me to try to get it done!

    (Hee hee, if I have a nervous breakdown I blame it on you :)

    Stopped over from Amanda's, but what a great idea to invite your neighbors to your church concert. So much more enticing then just an email that can get overlooked. I love it! Yes, I do think its crafty :)

    Great work! I think you are crafty! :) I agree, pinterest has been awesome – I always look at the DIY crafts. I'm actually working on some mod podge things now for our new place (ideas that I got from pinterest – before, I didn't even know what mod podge was. ha!). So, I feel like I'm becoming craftier the older I get….:) And you're inspring too. :)

    Definitely counts as a craft! If only I could find the time to do something like that… see, you are way craftier than me!
