Short but Sweet

Life has been crazy in our house the last two weeks.  Chris has been working more of a 2nd shift and we have decided… we don’t like it! The week before last he worked 2pm-10pm and last week was the horrid and dreadful 4pm-midnight! At least I was able to stay awake and see him for a bit the first week.  The next week held no such luck.  The only time we got to see him was in the mornings for about 30 minutes.  :(

The good news is that he was called in and offered to come on full time!  Whoo hoo!  He has actually been working as a temp for the past four weeks, so this was great news!  Now we can start the countdown on the 90 day waiting period for insurance.  :)

It turns out, that after these two weeks of less than quality family time,  this was the weekend that Chris’s parents had invited us to the beach with them.  They were staying for the week, but we only could manage one night since Chris didn’t want to ask for a day off already.  I felt like we were crazy to be going for just one night since we are not as young as we once were, but we could use the time away, and it was FREE!  :)

The two munchkins rode with Nana and Pop on the way up…  Ahhhh…. blessed quietness that is a roadtrip without whining! We had a great time away. Haylee was ecstatic about swimming in the heated indoor pool. So sad that it was still too cold for me!  Wade enjoyed it, I think, but he seemed to be quite worried about the whole event.  I was shocked that our normal fearless fellow was a bit freaked by the water!

The kiddos also got to play on this massive three-story treehouse playground at the resort.  It was the neatest thing. Wade loved the slide…even though the turns were so tight that it kept spinning him around– sending him down head first! :)

Our last adventure was exploring the Beach!

This was Wade’s first time ever, and he had a great time chasing down the seagulls saying, “Duck, Duck!”  Haylee took off her shoes, rolled up her pants (even though it was FREEZING!) and put her feet in the water.  She had a great time looking for seashells and showing us all her AMAZING finds.  :)

It was great fun, and after driving home late and getting up early the next day, the verdict is in…  It was worth it!  Maybe we aren’t old fogies yet!  :)

Thanks, Nana and Pop!

I feel your pain on the shift changes. Fred NEVER has the same schedule so I always feel like planning anything is almost too much of a pain to try it. Awesome tree house! And the kids look like they had so much fun. Glad you guys got a day away.
