My Christmas Craft Room

photo (17) 2

The Christmas Craziness has FULLY set in on all of us, right?  We have one last week of homeschool to finish up and then we’ll be taking a 2.5 week break! Yahoo!  Hard to believe our second year is almost half over.

Can you believe there are only TWELVE days left until Christmas???

I happily finished my shopping last week, and I’ve been wrapping up a storm since.  I enjoy wrapping… but to a certain extent.  This year I’m so excited to be wrapping in my new craft room!!

Ha!

My new “Craft Room” is actually my newly cleared out attic.    :)

With our family of five AND all our stuff living in our cozy 2 bedroom, my sanity saver lots of times is our LARGE attic.  When the clutter starts to make me twitch, usually my first recourse has been to throw it in the attic to deal with and worry about later.

Thus, the attic was a major disaster zone.  Major.

I know.

So sad, right?

I recently went on a clearing out rampage and cleared out stuff like a crazy woman.  We are definitely at one of those perfect moments…. perfect for getting rid of a TON!!  Since Davis Man is our last wee one, and he recently turned ONE, we had ALL of our baby gear we could pass on, as well as all our baby bins of clothes from Newborn to 12 months.

I was able to sell most of the baby gear that I wanted to get rid of

photo (13) 2

And I was able to pass on 6 or 7 bags of baby boy clothes to a brand new cutie pie baby boy.

photo (10) 2

That alone made a TON of room, but I also went through a boatload of JUNK up there and we made a HUGE Goodwill trip.

goodwill junk

Ah, getting rid of ALL that stuff felt SOOOO amazingly good!!

It was so much easier too getting out the Christmas boxes with all the freed up space I have up there now, AND it gave me the perfect out of the way place to wrap, wrap away!

The Christmas gifts were stashed in the attic already, as well as all my gift wrapping supplies galore, so it seemed like the perfect solution to wrap up there instead of dragging gifts and wrap down.

Plus, that meant hiding gifts from little eyes and keeping little fingers out of all that stuff!!

photo (16) 2

It was fabulous to head up to my “craft room” to begin the wrapping mania.  It also felt even more amazing later when the Davis Man woke up from his nap, and I didn’t have to make a mad dash cleaning everything up and finding a spot in our bedroom to stash my supplies!!!

I could stop mid wrap and leave everything out and ready for my next wrapping session.

Oh how glorious it was, I tell you!!!!!

I even took my laptop with me and to watch me some Netflix while I wrapped away.  Can’t beat watching cheesy Christmas movies to get you in the wrapping mood.  :)

photo (15) 2

The only downside is that it can get chilly up there, but here in NC it hasn’t been too extreme, and I just don my sweater before I head up for some extra warmth.

Doesn’t it seem fitting to “don” my sweater?  In honor of Christmas and all?

Is this whole idea a bit Crazy?  Maybe.

But the privacy and leaving out all my mess mid process makes it TOTALLY worth it!  :)

Once the holidays are over I’ll be heading back up to finish the cleaning out process that got put on pause when the Christmas craziness started.  And maybe then I’ll have a fabulous REAL after pic to go with that horrendous before one.  :)

How do YOU handle the wrapping mania??  Do you have a designated room or area that is free from curious fingers and eyes?!

so you have a 2 bedroom? Please, tell me more in an email… like how many sq. ft in your house, and how you put 3 kids in a bedroom….. we have a 2 bedroom 956 sq. ft. condo….and I would love a house, but don't think it will happen for awhile. I'm fairly good at organizing everything- we have amazing closets, and our bed is up on bed risers for underneath storage, etc. But David recently said something about wanting to turn our dining room into a 3rd bedroom! No!!!! and I agree with Leah—nice attic!

Oh I only wish our attic was that big. I have not even started wrapping. I'm in big trouble right?! I will prob spend one crazy late night after everyone has gone to sleep to wrap and finish Christmas prep.

wow, seriously, I will trade one of my bedrooms for your attic!! and you have carpet down and everything??

I totally want to see after pictures too after Christmas – maybe give me some ideas for what we can do in our attic.

Our attic is crazy. I did add some more flooring (although it isn't nailed down – whoops) last Christmas but the roof has angles going everywhere. Our bedroom which is right by the attic entrance has pitched ceilings which cut into the HUGE attic space that we would have :( So very little attic space and you have to crawl on your knees to get to bigger places – just crazy!!

That is why our garage is a disaster area! LOL! I love our house but it seriously lacks storage space :( No storage space + someone who switches out decor throughout the year = disaster! :)

We have to wrap the gifts in the Master bedroom. We only have a crawlspace and the attic is only big enough for a toddler to stand in. My craft room SHOULD be my wrapping room, but it's mostly used for storage in place of an attic/basement. Besides, my son's room is across the storage room and my daughter uses the room for crafting too. So, it wouldn't work anyway. But I would never judge your attic space in the Before shot. Mine is JUST as bad as that was. I would love to clean out more stuff, but the hubby has lots of family things that he's highly attached to. He seems to think he'll be banished from Heaven if he ever gets rid of anything that was on his mother's side of the family. LOL!

What an awesome wrapping space. I've always dreamed of having an attic like that. It just seems so very cool.
