House & Birthday Partying

Saturday was a big day. We celebrated Wade’s birthday at Monkey Joe’s and played all our little hearts out.

There may have even been a moment or two where Chris decided to RACE two of the other dads on the inflatable obstacle course. As they came over the final hill/slide, it was more of of a sideways lunge and he hit the bottom in a lying down position with a gigantic thud.

Yes, he did.

And then he did it again! Life is never dull with him around, and that gives me further proof of where exactly Wild Wade gets all his crazy ideas.

Sadly I have no pictures. I just glad that we didn’t get kicked out of the party.

Though Chris defended himself with his very liberal interpretation of the rules…. “Only 18 and under on JUMPS!” Apparently, the inflatable obstacle course is not a “jump.” :)

The birthday boy had a blast on his Monkey throne…

…and entertained us all again with the always hilarious ticket grabbing booth.

I didn’t see him manage to grab ONE TICKET, but somehow he walked away with a few prizes, one of which was a coupon for free admission another day.

Davis definitely approved of the partying…

Though in all of our talking about it, when we said “Wade’s” party or “Wade’s” presents, he would immediately insist, “my party too!” or “my presents too.” He’s definitely the baby of the family… used to getting what he wants, you know. :)

After the big par-tay, we headed over to the new house for the official inspection. It gave us an excuse to come by and see it again, and this time we took lots of pictures.

Thankfully, there was no big issue or deal breaker to be found. Whew!

It was so nice watching the kiddos play blissfully away in the backyard… hoping for lots of moments like that this summer!

One thing I really wanted in our new house was a mudroom. Do you have one? I love the idea of having a drop spot for book bags, jackets, shoes, etc.

Well, this house does NOT have one, but they have a shoe drop zone in the garage that is kind of neat idea.

Right inside the garage door is a small coat closet…

I am thinking that we could remove the door and add some molding and hooks and a bench and voila! We have a mini mudroom! I think there is at least enough room for two book bags to hang with some baskets under the bench for shoes, etc.

I got the inspiration from this picture I saw on Pinterest….

Isn’t it so cute and doable, right?

It was one fun and exhausting day, to be sure. The countdown and planning mania continues!

What do you think? Are mudrooms worth it? Or are they still a hot mess even though they have pretty hooks and molding??  :)

Love the mudroom/closet idea! I would totally do it. Love the bench in that inspiration picture. and maybe even a shelf above head level too for more storage.
