Before & After… A Metamorphosis!

The Second Edition of the Happy Birthday House Celebration is the Kids’ Room.  It has undergone quite the metamorphosis.

We did some redesigning during the original renovation which took away the small 3 foot closet on the right side of the room {Chris knocked out the wall separating our itty bitty closet and the kids’ room closet and made it one BIG closet in our room, yay!} and added a bigger closet on the left side which left room for a small linen closet in the hallway too. Bonus!

Here’s the before… Old windows, hardwoods in bad shape and old school veeery thin dry wall.  ALL of it had to go!

Aaaaaand, the initial AFTER in ‘07…. {Side note… see the Strawberry Shortcake?  She’s had that bedding/theme for 4 years!  She was definitely ready for an update. }

New windows, drywall and trim, new closet and new carpet too!  We chose a bright, fun GREEN for the walls which I think has worked really well.

Ah, life with only ONE kid!  So much room!

Here is the updated room a few weeks ago…

bunks

Ikea loft bed, itso cubes for toy storage, not to mention the toy box and massive, behemoth wardrobe from Ikea that houses ALL {and I mean ALL} clothing for ALL 3 kiddos!

Davis has the two drawers on the bottom and the top shelf.  Haylee has the two bottom shelves, and poor middle child Wade was left with only one measly shelf.  :)

On the other side of the wardrobe, we’ve got a hanging thing for shoes and hanging clothes for everyone.

In the rubbermaid drawers, top drawer is winter stuff, belts & accessories,  and Haylee’s sweaters. Middle drawer is Wade’s pj’s and bottom drawer is Haylee’s pj’s.

Believe it or not, we have actually done MORE shaking things up and are trying something even newer with the room rearranging since the above pic…

ALL THREE kiddos in ONE ROOM!  Yes, we are crazy like that.

{With our space, you gotta just keep trying and trying new things to make the most of it!}

It does present its own set of logistical problems, ie… on the first two nights Wade decided to talk to Davis

Not good, ya know.

Surprisingly, though, it has gone pretty well so far with the three of them cozing up together.  It was nice to get the HUGE crib out of our room too.

If you had told me we would be able to fit the crib in there next to the bunk bed instead of under it, I don’t think I would’ve believed you.  BUT… it just baaarely does.

Here’s how it looked with the crib as a toddler bed under the loft bed and on the opposite wall…

We’ve come a long way, baby!

    Wow….didn't know all 3 shared a room; we haven't tried that yet! (Sophia is still in our room…but Cami and Lucas do share). The Room looks great and a nice "neutral" color for girl and boy! =)
